My drawing books often take a year or more to use up, and so contain pictures done all over the show and in different mediums. These are a few odds and ends left over from the Karoo odyssey pictures posted previously.
This may be familiar to those who have visited my most-visited blog, Global Rock Legends (http://globalrocklegends.blogspot.com/). My son Douglas incorporated it into the header for that blog, which has had well over 100 000 hits. It was done again using the technique I learnt at art school of drawing while very rarely looking down at the page. This gives great line quality. The picture of the Beatles were taken from the famous cover of their iconic album, Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.
At the same time I did a couple of other experiments. This image of John Lennon may have been done from the Imagine cover, if my memory serves me well.
Also tucked away in this sketch book I found this "cartoon" for an artwork I did which incorporated the ANC logo. I'll be showing my political art later.
Back to sketching from life. This view of a man and his grandchild was done while seated outside the Red Windmill in its "new" premises at Hobie Beach in PE.
There is another drawing of an older man and possibly his granddaughter enjoying ice creams.
